Komainu Dogs Vintage Japanese Kimono Haori Jacket
The very soft, high quality, black silk fabric has been woven with a large satin/matte design. Through this is woven a Komianu Lion design in silver, and some gold threads.
Komainu, or lion-dogs, are pairs of statues used for guarding the main, or inner-shrine, entrance to a Shinto shrine. They are there to ward off evil spirits.
The upper lining is cream with a woven floral design. Slight discolouration on small area of lining

Age is mid to late 20C and it's condition is excellent
