Uncovered - Little English House 24/03/2015

Enjoy reading this lovely blog about Paula Duggan who organises the Antiques, Vintage & Handmade Home Fair in pretty Georgian towns in East Yorkshire. The Fair is a reflection of Paula’s preference for shabby French, English and Swedish style interiors rather than the mid century modern that is traditionally associated with vintage fairs.

Paula buys from the heart and tends to gravitate towards antique textiles, floral adorned pottery and furniture with peeling paint.  Her business, Little English House, was established in 2011 and was born out of a love of all things gorgeous and original for the home...

and garden...

With a strong following of buyers, Paula recognised a gap in the market for a specialist interiors event and quickly amassed a number of similar minded traders to help establish these events.

The events are small with around 12-20 traders, depending on the venue but big on quality and volume of stock so you will find temptation at every turn.

Among the offerings are quirky English & French flea market finds, period furniture, acres of textiles, embroideries, grain sacks, linens, quilts, gardenalia, pictures, glass, lace, quirky one-offs, curtains, cushions, lampshades, antique and pretty vintage china and lots of other loveliness for the home and garden.
As well as sourcing original finds, many of the dealers are talented seamstresses/ upholsterers and up-cycle vintage and antique textiles in to gifts and soft furnishings...

The events also have a vintage tearoom so buyers can rejuvenate in comfort before doing a spot more shopping. The halls are dressed with pretty bunting and floral displays so the hall is brimming with loveliness and the atmosphere is light, friendly and very much akin to the village fetes of decades past.

The fair is particularly popular with people that love to adorn their period home, find a special gift for a loved one, or simply enjoy a cup of tea in vintage china with friends in a pretty setting.  Paula will often be found discussing beautiful finds with visitors and is assisted by her 9 year old daughter, Imogen.

Here's Paula distributing flyers with her daughter for their next event...
