At last, Summer is almost here! It is just so nice to be able to wear pretty vintage summer dresses and indulge in pretty flowery jewellery. Now is the time for outdoor eating, garden parties and barbecues, although it is still a very good idea to note the weather forecast very carefully!

Vintage Tea Party
The indoor vintage tea parties you enjoyed in the Winter can now be enjoyed outside. So girls indulge yourselves, dress your garden or patio with bunting, pretty fairy lights and antique tablecloths, fastened with vintage brooches to stop the tablecloth blowing in the wind. The brooches don't need to be perfect, one or two missing stones will not show, but the general effect will be appealing. Use your pretty vintage china, and make gorgeous cupcakes and trifles. Cake stands can be easily made, look on the internet for ideas. Find vases and fill with flowers from your garden, drape vintage necklaces over them for extra effect. Doilies look so nice on a pretty plate, just right for your cupcakes and cucumber sandwiches. Think vintage pretty, think sunshine and long summer days.

Rock and Roll
For those lucky enough to have memories of the excitement of barbecues in their youth, recreating this era would be indulgent nostalgia and for the modern generation it would be such a fun evening. Imagine dressing up in rock and roll clothes, 60's/70's mini skirts and the Elvis and Teddy Boy look for men. We must not forget them, girls! Antique and vintage fairs usually have an abundance of such clothes, and look out for vintage accessories. And don't forget the fantastic rock and roll music!

Bread and butter and strawberry jam
Think about having themed birthday parties, especially for 18th or 21st birthday celebrations. Hold an elegant vintage tea party, or a jazzier rock and roll party, because we girls love any excuse to dress up in elegant vintage party dresses! Vintage can be so stylish, so glamorous. What about vintage foods? Either elegant sandwiches, battenburg cakes and pretty cupcakes, with delicate triangles of bread and butter with delicious strawberry jam. Or maybe cheese fondue and pineapple and cheese on cocktail sticks? Consider having punch - but don't forget the birthday cake!

Enjoy the sunshine!
So enjoy the long days of Summer, make them memorable by these parties, but make sure to always have a back up plan for inside, knowing the great British weather!
